AI grading

Mark against your rubric, in a fraction of the time

Thoth reads each student’s work against your rubric, suggests a mark, explains why and drafts feedback. You check it, change what you disagree with, and confirm. Nothing becomes a grade until you do.

How it works

Three steps

  1. 1

    Students submit

Work comes in online, or on paper through scanned answer sheets.

  2. 2

    Thoth suggests

It reads each answer against the rubric, suggests a mark with its reasoning, and drafts feedback.

  3. 3

    You decide

Accept, adjust or overrule each suggestion. Only what you confirm becomes the grade.

What you get

What comes out the other end

  • Marks against the rubric

For MYP, a level from 0 to 8 per criterion or sub-strand. For PYP, against the strands. Points for other courses.

  • Evidence shown

Each suggestion points to what in the student’s work it was based on.

  • Feedback drafted

Written comments for each student that you can edit before they see them.

  • Final grade suggestions

Across a set of work, xedu suggests final grades in your class’s own grading scheme.

  • Language Acquisition phases

MYP Language Acquisition work is judged against the right phase.

  • You stay in control

Suggestions are never released automatically. A teacher confirms every grade.

Any curriculum

Works with the course you teach

Criterion-based marking is built for IB MYP (criteria A–D, sub-strands, 0–8 levels) and PYP (subject strands). For DP, IGCSE, British, A-level, American and AP classes, work is marked in points today, and you apply your own grade boundaries.

Questions

Common questions

Does the AI grade on its own?

No. Thoth suggests marks and feedback, and a teacher confirms every one before it becomes a grade.

How does it know what a good answer looks like?

It marks against the rubric attached to the assignment, which you can review and edit, and shows the evidence it used for each mark.

Can it mark handwritten work?

Yes, when students write on the QR-coded answer sheets xedu prints. See paper test marking.

Does it support IGCSE or A-level grades?

Not as grade scales yet. IGCSE and A-level work is marked in points, and you convert to grades.
