The part of planning nobody enjoys, done
- A unit outline: rationale, big ideas, key concepts and assessment strategy
- Links to other subjects where they fit naturally
- A lesson for every class date in the unit, generated in the background
- Your school’s own unit template, if you upload one

How it works
Three steps
- 1
Set the basics
Choose the class and the topic, and describe what you want the unit to cover.
- 2
Set the schedule
Pick the dates. xedu works out how many lessons the unit has and when each one falls.
- 3
Review, then generate
Check the outline, change what you want, and Thoth writes every lesson. Edit any of them afterwards.
What you get
What comes out the other end
Big ideas and concepts
What the unit is really about, and the key concepts students should leave with.
Every lesson, dated
Each lesson planned for its actual date, so the unit fits your calendar.
Cross-curricular links
Where the unit connects to other subjects, so colleagues can build on it.
Your template
Upload your school’s unit template and Thoth fills it in, rather than inventing its own format.
Share and duplicate
Share a unit with a colleague or duplicate it for another class.
Print it
Print the unit or save it as a PDF for your files or your coordinator.
Any curriculum
Works with the course you teach
The unit planner works the same way for every curriculum: IB, IGCSE, British, A-level, American and AP. Tell it the course and year group and it writes in those terms. It doesn’t have dedicated fields for programme-specific planners, such as an MYP statement of inquiry.

Questions
Common questions
How long does a unit take?
You get the outline first. The individual lessons, each a full AI lesson plan, are then written in the background, so you can carry on with other work while they appear.
Can I plan a unit on the free plan?
A whole unit with every lesson uses more tokens than the free plan’s monthly 50. Most teachers who plan units regularly use a paid plan, from $5 a month.
Can I change the outline before lessons are written?
Yes. You review and edit the outline first, and the lessons are written from your version.
Can I use my school’s unit planner format?
Yes. Upload your template and Thoth fills it in.
