Getting started
A few minutes to set up
- 1
Create your account
Sign up as a parent. Your child’s account lives under yours.
- 2
Add your child
Their first name, birth year and an animal to represent them, plus a picture password or PIN to sign in with.
- 3
They practice
Short, playful sessions with read-aloud questions. Thoth starts near their age and adjusts to what they can actually do.
Their first session
What their first session looks like
Children don’t need to read well or type. Every question is read aloud, and they answer by tapping a big number pad.
- The first session is a short check of up to 15 questions to find where your child is, starting from a guess based on their age.
- It stops after three misses in a row, so the first session always ends on something they got right.
- After that, sessions last 10, 15 or 20 minutes, whichever you choose, and follow what your child can actually do.
For you and for them
Built for children, controlled by you
Read aloud
Questions are read out, so younger children who are still learning to read can practice on their own.
A way in for small hands
Children sign in with a picture password or a PIN instead of an email address.
What Thoth noticed
Your family page shows this week, a map of their skills, and what Thoth has spotted about how they’re getting on.
Quiet hours and pause
Choose which days and hours practice is available, or pause it any time.
Their own pace
Practice starts from a guess based on age, then follows what your child can actually do.
A grown-up PIN
Settings sit behind a PIN only you know, so a curious child can’t change their own limits.
Through their school
A window into school, too
When your child’s school runs on xedu, link your account with the code the school gives you and you can follow school life in one place.
- Attendance, behaviour and the timetable
- Homework, class materials and what they’re learning
- Messages with teachers, and booking parent–teacher meetings by video
- Ask Thoth how your child is doing, based on their latest school record
Questions
What parents ask us
What age is it for?
Children aged 5 to 12. It covers number and arithmetic in six strands: counting, place value, adding, taking away, multiplying and dividing, from counting to 10 up to long division.
How much does it cost?
It’s free while we’re in early access.
Does my child need an email address?
No. You create your child’s account from your own, and they sign in with a picture password or a PIN that you set.
Which curriculum does it follow?
Skills are ordered using England’s national curriculum and the US Common Core, which agree on when children usually learn each one. After the first session, practice follows your child’s own progress rather than their age.
My child is 13 or older. Can they join?
Children aged 13 and over use their own student account. If their school is on xedu, they can link the account they already have.
Is it available in Arabic?
Not yet. The children’s practice and the family page are in English for now.
Try one session together
Set up your child, sit with them for their first few questions, and see what they make of it.
